ERROR
When selecting the option to save reports in excel format in either MassHunter Qual or MassHunter Quant, no report gets generated in the specified folder. When selecting PDF, the report gets generated without any issues.
ISSUE
This can occur when MassHunter Qual or Quant is installed BEFORE Excel has been installed, or when a newer version of Excel has been installed later on and Excel can't find the MassHunter Add-In.
RESOLUTION
Repair the Data Analysis Software
- Insert the MassHunter Qualitative Disk or USB and run the Setup file
- Select the option to Repair the software
- Insert the MassHunter Quantitative Disk or USB and run the Setup file
- Select the option to Repair the software
- Test whether the Excel reports work.
- Alternatively, uninstall and reinstall MassHunter Qual and Quant.
MassHunter Reporting Add-In
1. If this does not work, search the C drive for the following three files:
- MassHunter Addin Loader.xlam
- MassHunter Reporting Qual.xlam
- MassHunter Reporting Quant.xlam
2. After they have been located, make a copy of each and place them in the file indicated in the error that gets obtained when trying to generate the Excel reports - typically C:\Program Files (x86)Microsoft Office\Root\Office16\LIBARY\ (depending on the version of office installed it could be Office15/Office16/etc.).
3. Once copied, open Excel and go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
4. If the MassHunter Add-Ins are not listed there, by Manage Excel Add-Ins select Go... Then select Browse and locate the files in the above file path and select them.
5. Close Excel and open it again and check if the MassHunter Add-In is now listed. If they still aren't listed, the add-ins may need to be copied into a different version office folder.
6. Check Excel > File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Macro Settings. Tick "Trust access to the VBA project object mode".
7. The Excel reports should now work.
